Life is constantly happening all around us. Good or bad, doesn’t necessarily happen when we plan it to happen, and slipping into reaction mode can seem inevitable. However, we need to remember that we have the greatest authority over ourselves. It is very important to understand who you are as a person and to anticipate what you need to get through what we call life!
Here’s is why you should take a break before breaking down:
You Still Need Time To Recover Even If Things Seem To Be Perfect
At times the opportunities you have can get very overwhelming. The constant growth and progression can slowly wear you out. It is important to understand that as you hustle and build, you also practice self-care. Take out time to rest and recover. When things are going great, we often forget to take care of ourselves. Give yourself time to breathe and enjoy life.
Start Taking Your Own Advice
The advice we are usually giving to our friends and family is sometimes all we need to focus on, ourselves. Try to practice what you preach. Practicing what you learn is the best way to see if it really works or not. Caring for others is just as important as caring for yourself! It is okay to put yourself above everyone else sometimes. 🙂
Allow Yourself Not To Be Okay
Yes, you’re strong, but that does not mean you are a robot. We as human beings have feelings which should be honored at all times! It is okay to be less than perfect, it is okay to take a break, it is okay not to be okay! In today’s modern world of social media living, people are living a life which is more about comparing and competing than it is about inward peace. Be kind to yourself. You are enough!
Signs it might be time for a break…
Are you having an increased emotional response to ordinary things? If I start crying at commercials, I know it’s time for me to take a break.
Are you lashing out at the people closest to you? If I feel myself being unkind, I have to check if I am hangry or out of whack. These are the people that I love, so why would I treat them with anything less than love?
Are you a bit of a negative person? Life is not unicorns and rainbows all the time, but it should be lived with joy as often as possible. If you find yourself constantly being a downer, it is probably time for a recharge.
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” Audre Lorde
