The #MeToo movement started on the internet as a simple way for women all across the globe to come to terms with the insane amounts of sexual harassment and abuse survivors there were. It is said that comfort lies in huge numbers. Knowing that there are hundreds and thousands of survivors out there who went through the same traumatic experiences as you make is somewhat easier to cope with the feelings which accompany the incident.

I am personally so glad and happy to see something like this become so immensely popular and make its way through the bouts of social media. More attention needs to be given to such topics, especially in the kind of society where we reside. Sexual harassment, which is one of the “taboo” topics, should now be out in open. The #MeToo movement is positive as it allows people to share their story without having to go through the pain of speaking it out loud. Women, who have for so long kept this bottled within themselves, afraid of the havoc it might cause once out in the open, have now decided that enough is enough.

JUSTICE SHOULD NOW BE SERVED. WOMEN SHOULD NOT BE RAPED OR HARASSED. NOT ON THE STREETS, NOT IN THEIR OFFICES, NOT IN THEIR HOMES!

The impact which the #MeToo movement has had on other people is extremely evident as well. it now seems as if we are one step closer to realizing all that is wrong with the world we are living in right now. It has encouraged us to help survivors let go off their horrific pasts, by letting it all out.

Unbeknownst by us, there are thousands of Harvey Weinstein amongst us. Going about their daily lives, as normal as they can be because we fail to speak up. Sexual harassment or abuse, on any level is unforgivable. It is our inability to speak which gives them so much power over us and others around them. If you feel uncomfortable with how close he/she is sitting to you, if their “accidental brush of hand” sends a chill down your spine, if their comments about how your dress or your figure leave a bitter aftertaste, it is your right and duty to your self and others that you speak up. Speak up and make them realize what they are doing is not acceptable. Not by you, not by anyone else!

You taking a stand might just save someone from having to upload their #MeToo story.

THINK ABOUT IT.
